In the tenth year of Qianlong Reign of the Qing Dynasty, "Jilin Chang Ping" silver coins were minted in Jilin Province and became the first machine-molded coins in China's history. The series constitutes one liang, seven qian, half liang, three qian, and one qian (liang means tael; ten qian equals one liang and one qian equals to 5 grams, which are units of Chinese measuring system). The coins are decorated with dragon designs surrounding the characters and continuous pearl patterns at their edges. According to the historical archives, this series of silver coins never entered into circulation.
