Qing Dynasty The hair crosspieces are unadorned, with one end in the shape of a five-petal plum flower and the other a semicircle. A hair crosspiece is an ornament for holding a woman's hair coils in place. They are made of a variety of materials, including jadeite, jade, gold, silver, ivory, turtle shell etc. These hair crosspieces used to be worn by the Qing-Dynasty empress or concubines. The jadeite, dark green in color and fine in texture, is a top-quality jadeite material. |
