A Brief Introduction of Chinese Jade-Culture
Jadeite plate |
Qing Dynasty The round beiyun has a relief-carved lotus leaf on one side and a small fish on the other, looking like a fish wearing a small cap, or a fish hiding under a lotus leaf. Either way, the picture is vivid and full of life. Beiyun is an ornament on a string of court beads meant to be hung at the back of the wearer. It is connected with the fotou pagoda (another ornament on a string of court beads) at one end and with the pendant at the other. |
