Qing Dynasty Thick and heavy compressed circular box, on a straight ring foot, of two snugly fit halves, warm red lacquer of central motif in deeply carved relief of two animated and playful dragons chasing a flaming pearl over a wan character brocaded background, ringed first with floral key and fret pattern, and second with reserve panels of seasonal floral branches over key and fret brocade divided by classic lotus flowers, mirrored by same motif on bottom half and skirted with chrysanthemum petal pattern. |
