Geyuan Garden

Located in the northern part of the ancient city, the Geyuan Garden is the private residential garden in Yangzhou classic gardens with the longest history, the most complete preservation and the highest artistic value. Bamboos can be seen everywhere in the Garden. As the bamboo leaf resembles the Chinese character "Ge", it is named  "Geyuan Garden".

The Geyuan Garden covers an area of 30 mu with an artful layout and deep paths attracting people. In the Garden, the craftsmen piled four groups of rockworks with brown and yellow stone, Taihu stone, Xue stone and stalagmite resembling the bamboo shoots to display the scenery of the four seasons, so it is called the four-season rockwork. The Spring Scenery stands in the bamboo with the stalagmite, representing the meaning of bamboo shooting emerging after a spring rain; the Summer Scenery is the piling of Taihu Stone near the lotus pool, the jade green of which gives people a feeling of hot summer; the Autumn Scenery is displayed by the Huangshan Stone located in west facing the east. The Huangshan Stone as long as 50m is very grand. People climbing it will feel the refreshment of the autumn; the Winter Scenery is piled by the white Xue stone, which symbolizes the snow in the cold winter.
